Wick is strategically placed to support the developing Offshore Renewable industry both in the Moray Firth, Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters.
Due to our close proximity to the Moray Firth wind farm developments and services on offer, we have already been chosen as the Operations and Maintenance base supporting the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm.
The signing of our 25-year agreement with BOWL demonstrates the confidence the industry has in our ability to deliver large-scale renewable projects and as such BOWL is subsequently investing £10 – 15M into Wick to prepare the operations buildings and provide pontoons for their six Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV’s).
With the next wind farm development – Moray East also underway Wick continues to attract new business and opportunities for both developers and local service providers.
Our geographical location to the existing and future wind farms along the Moray Firth and East of Orkney can realise significant advantage and cost savings for operators, therefore, Wick will see more traffic. This new exciting industry will support the expansion plans of Wick Harbour, the regeneration of Wick and Caithness as a whole and will help to offset the eventual downturn of Dounreay.
Transport links – Wick Airport is located 1 mile from the harbour with daily flights to Aberdeen. More information can be found here https://www.hial.co.uk/wick-john-ogroats-airport
Wick Railway Station is close by, and a heavy rail freight facility is available 15 miles away at Georgemas Junction.
