Harbour News 25 October 2018

A busy few weeks around the harbour during the month of October.  The John O Groats ferry Pentland Venture arrived to take up its winter berth. Usual shell fish activity and the Opportune also in landing to lorry. The sea bed levelling vessel Doonhammer arrived to commence work in connection with the recent dredging works. A number of the Crew Transfer Vessels working out at the Beatrice windfarm have left the harbour for the winter with many due to return in Spring 2019. The survey vessel Coral Wind in port to assist with Subsea 7 Snorre contract.

Cargo vessel Triton called at port to discharge onshore wind turbine parts 14 October 2018 and the cargo vessel Scot Ranger in 21 October 2018 with cargo of pipes.



Harbour staff are moving small pleasure craft boats out of the harbour to winter storage 25/26/27 October 2018.  Hugh Simpson Contractors crane on site to assist with operations.

The redundant slipway winch house has been demolished this past week.

This will tidy the area up and also allow for a greater sweep for cargo traffic / cranes etc using the Commercial Quay.
