TOCARDO ENERGY, failed to get a seabed lease in the last round of Pentland Firth awards, but are still hopeful of establishing a tidal turbine assembly and launch facility on the Drydock area, and we await with interest to see how this develops.
Two tidal sites at the east end of the Pentland Firth, Ness of Duncansby and the Inner Sound, are currently under assessment by Scottish Power Renewables and Meygen respectively.
Meygen currently have a prototype turbine under test at EMEC in Orkney, and hope to start on-site installation perhaps in 2014.
Both sites are equidistant from Wick and Scrabster, and we are keen to attract potential support business from both developers.
